Our first Christmas in this town I tried this fudge at a Sunday School Christmas party and fell in love with it. The lady who made it was a wonderful lady named Carol Travis. I didn’t get to know her very well because she passed away within a few months afterward. One day I was surprised by her widowed husband who came and brought me some fudge and the recipe to make it. Ever since that day I have tried to recreate what she had made. So far I have not been successful but I still attempt it every year and once again it is time to make the peppermint fudge. Will I be successful this year? I may not be, but it is fun to try. In memory of Carol Travis, I will continue to try.
Peppermint Fudge Recipe:
1/4 cup of Margarine
1/2 cup of sour cream
2 cups of sugar
(put in sauce pan and bring it to rolling boil 234 degrees)
12 oz. of white chocolate
1 – 7 oz. marshmallow
1/2 cup of crushed peppermint candy cane
1/2 tsp. of peppermint extract
(mix into sauce pan, spread it out and let it set)
Looks and sounds delicious!
Good luck! I think you’ll be successful!
Mmmm.
This looks wonderful. I’d love to try making some! I love peppermint and chocolate together. Thanks for sharing and for keeping a tradition going. L.
This looks lovely – thanks for posting the recipe, I’m going to try it too!
Carol Travis in peace!
How kind of you, still remember a lady who is not your friend, but made this delicious and tasty Peppermint Fudge.
Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas!
Take good care.
Lettme give you my mailing address… will you send me some?!?? YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yum! It looks amazing!
The picture is not my own. I will be posting a picture of my fudge soon though. It’s definitely not as pretty!
No more cooking after that rolling boil? Just mix and it’s done? NAH.
This looks delish. But marshmellow?
What other treats have become holiday tradition?
Peanut butter balls have also been a holiday tradition. It’s just something my husband asks for every year. It is a recipe I can’t mess up so I like it.
wow~
Wow, this looks really interesting. I would have never thought sour cream would go in fudge! Neat.

looks yummy!
The image caught my attention.

my best friend made pepperment bark..same concept but harder…all she did was break up a whole bunch of different kinds of pepperment candy canes wit a meat tenderizer and then melted a bunch of white chocolate in a fondue pot…she added the different kinds of candy canes to each pot of white chocolate (to figure out which candy cane was the best for the job). stirred it all together and then pour it out over a cookie sheet covered in wax paper and spread it as even as possible…cooled it, and then broke it into pieces…it was fantastic! but extremely rich!
and not hard to make…just a harder candy haha the fudge looks amazing also!
This fudge is sooo good! The hardest part is waiting for it to harden! Thanks for sharing!
Can’t think of any word other than ‘Yummy’…
it looks great

I think I’m going to try it. I love peppermint taffy so I think peppermint fudge might be just as good.
It looks really good already. I wonder what the original looked like.

What an incredibly sweet sentiment. Good luck with it this year. And just remember, it doesn’t have to look pretty to taste good.

Siunds absolutely delicious – have you tried other additives instead of peppermint?
Looks good! Wonder if you’ve ever taken some back to Mr. Travis. I usually have disasters when cooking, but I may attempt this as it looks so good! Thanks for sharing!
That is a super thoughtful idea, but I haven’t taken any to Mr. Travis. I don’t think he likes the pepperpint fudge.
Thanks for reply 🙂 From all the comments, it sounds like he’s missing out 🙂
I just wanted to let you know that I made the fudge for Christmas and lots of people LOVED it! So I want to say THANK YOU again for sharing the recipe! 🙂 🙂
I’m so glad! That is really cool that you and others enjoyed it. Thank you so much for letting me know. It’s so neat to know that what Carol made has made an impact on others too!
